This base plate is one of many ways to secure your lights to specific areas. These are used for uplights to help aim up walls. Another example is using the wedding monogram lighting to aim from tables onto walls and/or wedding backdrops. These are perfect for magnetic table bases for pinspot lighting. The base has a wide enough footprint that it helps a small enough fixture stay in the ideal position.
Because this has a bolt at the top of the base plate you simply wedge the bracket between the plate and bolt and tighten the bolt. If your base plate has a lock washer, then do not over-tighten to prevent easy removal. If you over tighten then you will need to use a wrench or socket (not provided) to loosen the bolt. We do not recommend keeping the base plate in an area that gets a lot of heat/sunlight, if left in hot conditions then the metal bolt might expand in the base plate making it slightly harder to loosen the bolt.
Be cautious that you do not lose the bolt that screws into your base plate. If you happen to lose this bolt, then we suggest going to your local building supply store for a replacement. Rent a base plate stand for lighting fixtures today and make the most from your DIY rentals.
