Lighting Factors

Do not charge pinspots with carrying case zipped closed. This will cause the charging adapter to warp from heat and improper ventilation.

Turn off all wall sconces & lower your banquet halls house lights for maximum exposure from pinspots. Keep in mind what direction your photographer will be pictures. Try to make sure no one will stand in the pinspot beam during your cake cutting to give a better look. Pinspots look better on taller cakes. Use pinspots in creative places like candy tables, cake tables, sweet tables, head table decorations, podiums, pillars, ice sculptures, and crystal.

When your overhead venue lights are dimmed, lighting creates a beautiful glow for your reception photos. If your hall is a golf course with a lot of windows then this effect will be more noticeable immediately following your sunset. You can look up when the sunsets in your area by using this great tool Sunrise Sunset Calculator.

Easy Setup Instructions

Read our instructions below on how to setup cake and centerpiece pinspots for weddings & events. Do not charge pinspots with carrying case zipped closed. This will cause the charging adapter to warp from heat and improper ventilation.

2.) Use your portable ladder to magnetically attach pinspot bracket to ceiling
3.) Turn unit on from back 1 hour before event starts
4.) If using another pinspot be sure to mount this at least 5 feet away from any other pinspots
5.) (if remote included) Once off ladder aim remote at pinspot sensor within 25 feet and turn off to conserve battery life. Do not turn back on with your remote until 30-15 minutes before your event starts (to further conserve battery life)

Setup Pinspots on Drop Ceiling
(tiled ceiling with straight grid channeling)

1.) Use your portable ladder to attach pinspot bracket to ceiling with adjustable scissor clamp
3.) Turn unit on from back 1 hour before event starts
4.) If using another pinspot be sure to mount this at least 5 feet away from any other pinspots

Setup Pinspots on Optional Lighting Base
(necessary when you don’t have overhead magnetic surfaces or drop ceiling tiles)

1.) Attach pinspot to magnetic base in a safe secure area
2.) Turn on unit from back and aim at your focal point within 25 feet
3.) Try to hide the magic behind your effect by putting something slightly in front of pinspot
4.) Turn off pinspot and do not turn back on until 30-15 minutes before your event starts (to conserve battery)

Setup Pinspot on Optional Light Stand with Magnetic Top Bar
(necessary to elevate cake pinspot without attaching to ceiling or without using a ladder)

1.) Widen tripod stand by loosening the lower side knob and pulling the legs out carefully to form a wider base.
2.) Once you have the legs pulled to the right width (approximately 2 feet), then you can re-tighten the lower side knob (don’t over tighten)
3.) Attach top metal stand piece by sliding over upper portion of tripod (it should be a tight fit)
4.) To attach the cake pinspot, unscrew the drop ceiling bracket (if attached) and place magnet surface on bottom clamp of cake pinspot to the the top metal stand piece (make sure to screw the drop ceiling brackets back together and place back in same shipping case it came from)
5.) When renting multiple cake pinspots, we recommend putting one pinspot per stand (this way you can aim the pinspots from opposite sides preventing shadows on your cake in your photos)
6.) One hour before event starts, turn the cake pinspots in the ON position by using the toggle switch in the back of the fixture
7.) Carefully unscrew the higher side knob on the side of the tripod stand (so that it is somewhat loose), then raise up the upper portion of tripod (to elevate the top metal stand piece with attached pinspots that are turned ON).
8.) Once raise to the height of your preference insert side pin into side of upper portion (if available), and re-tighten the upper side knob (do not over tighten)
9.) Aim your cake pinspot in the desired position by using the side bracket on the fixture to adjust the angle. If you are not tall enough to reach, then you might need a ladder or chair. If there is not a tall ladder or chair available then you can lower the upper portion, adjust beam angels and re-raise the upper portion.
