A. Detroit is very industrialized. We have experienced a modern day renaissance in the city. There has been a shift to repurpose warehouses as event spaces. Because Detroit has influenced our past, clients view this city as a destination for timeless event inspiration.

A. We believe uplighting is a GREAT place to work in a color that compliments décor. Draping can be used to create a backdrop that is both functional and stylish. Use it to cover walls, funnel guests, section off areas & even flip (repurpose) an event space. When you combine both elements together it improves the quality in the background of photos. Both services are cost effective and offer a lot in terms of value / benefit.

A. Recently more couples are embracing outdoor events. A natural space breaths better and is more comfortable for guests. We have seen more couples incorporating string lights, uplighting & drapery into their barns, tents & pavilions. This is a great way to accent rustic chic themes with simple décor elements.

A. There will always be some vendors you will have to hire. Some you can do without, by doing it yourself. This saves money and empowers your wedding by giving you back control. Going DIY offers opportunity to both clients and vendors. This gives a strong sense of achievement knowing you can do it with less cost by investing your own labor.

A. I think they tend to be smaller and more intimate even pre-Covid when they are in Northern Michigan. Places like Mackinac Island and The Homestead in Glen Arbor host beautiful smaller guest count weddings. However, they don’t skimp on the lavish details right down to welcome bags for each guest whom are traveling from afar to spend the weekend to celebrate with the couple. These destination weddings are becoming popular so families can spend a nice weekend get away and partake in the festivities.

A. It changes the whole look of a space making it much more dramatic and inviting to your guests. It is one way to elevate the event and change the feel. I think it makes all the difference in the world on the special day. I like that we can customize the space with the client’s color palette or even take a very neutral space and make it into something spectacular!

A. Lots of greenery and foliage are popular these days to lend a crisp airy modern and sophisticated look. Couples love a decorated circular style arch in greenery some with minimal florals to use as their ceremony backdrop. The naked cake embellished with greenery and simple floral is a popular choice versus an iced cake with heavy sugar flowers.

A. Clients can save money from their wedding budget by adding elements that maybe they could not otherwise afford if their budget didn’t allow if they do the set up and tear down themselves.

A. Most Metro-Detroit weddings tend to be at either a banquet hall or unique space downtown. There are many surrounding suburbs that have similar options. Venture an hour away you will notice larger properties that use either tents or barns. These are great for early summer or early fall weddings. The indoor outdoor vibe creates opportunity for not only the reception but also intimate ceremony settings.

A. Drapery and uplighting change the room in a big way for sure. It takes any room from simple to beautiful in no time! The best part is you can take a very basic room and make it look very upscale just by adding these two elements. For the cost, it is absolutely the best way to enhance any room.

A. I think the classic barn theme is still popular. Wood, burlap, lights, etc. A country feel possibly. I believe brides are going to a more clean look but still keeping it upscale looking.

A. DIY is the way to go for sure, especially if you are trying to stay within a certain budget. DIY is not for everyone but if you can flip a switch and understand some simple instructions, go for it! Why pay a company to do something you can do yourself at a discounted price!

A. Local events in Shelby Township are at venues such as golf courses mostly or hotels. Up north weddings seem to be more tent weddings and creating the event space from scratch and those are my favorite to plan because you bring a client’s vision to life. There are a lot more moving parts to tent weddings up north than there are with venues down here because they control the food, rental space, load in times, noise level, if you are able to hang flower/greenery, etc. More flexibility overall with up north events in our state than locally.

A. I feel that uplighting and drapery really enhance an event space and can completely change the look of the entire space. Especially for outdoor tent weddings, drapery hides the poles and makes the event space look complete. Uplighting makes a huge difference by creating ambiance and depth to an event space.

A. The décor styles I feel my brides are requesting would be rustic wood farm burlap and modern clean industrial bold. Most of my brides are tent weddings or unique venues. Brides I feel want to create a space from scratch and not have the same cookie cutter rentals that they have seen for years. Different chair styles are very popular instead of the chair cover look.

A. There are so many benefits to clients going DIY. First, they can save so much money by doing it themselves and save cost on the labor aspect. Second, they have the freedom to design their event space the way they want it to look. Third, they can make the wedding of their dreams by going DIY. Lastly, they have control over the entire wedding and do not have to rely on other vendors to get there on time or set it up correctly.

A. Southfield is in center of metro-Detroit and an easy location for guests. We offer the full package from guest rooms, catering, set up, and event space!

A. It can transform the space! Taking a blank space and making it a completely different mood and ambience. Our Ballrooms are the prefect example because the neutral color palette makes it easy to incorporate any theme.

A. Garden venues with thematic lighting, individual hors d’oeuvres and desserts, florals as well as pastel color schemes.

A. Local events to the Detroit Metro area tend to be larger gatherings because less logistics are required than if guests and vendors are traveling to another location.

Over the past few years we’ve noticed some trends in music styles that are hitting with crowds. 80s songs continue to be heavy hitters when picked right, and newer bands like Walk the Moon and the Weeknd are sort of tying that 80s vibe into current radio releases. Also, especially with formal dance song requests, country music is encompassing a larger amount of requests as compared to 5 years ago.

A. Substantial cost, possibly more flexibility in design.

A. With the amount of different types of venues in our area, you have the ability to have anything from rustic farm events to formal dinner settings. We all take a lot of pride in locally sourcing everything we can.

A. I love when the right amount of uplighting and drapery transform simple spaces into magical event spaces.

A. I foresee the future food trends for weddings to still be adventurous and flavorful however service and styles have changed. We will see a lot more self contained appetizers for cocktail hour or individual plates. If buffets are preferred over plated service, you will see more staffed buffets. This allows more guest interaction. I do love that we have been pushing for more outside cooking and dining options. But whatever the future throws at us, we are expected to grow with our clients.
